Michigan's quarterback of the future is going to have some unexpected time off.

Warren De La Salle senior Shane Morris, the star of Michigan's 2013 recruiting class, has been diagnosed with mononucleosis and might have played his final high school game.

"He won't play this week," De La Salle coach Paul Verska told the Detroit Free Press. "And, really, I'm not counting on him coming back the rest of the year."

Morris tried to play through the illness but came out of Saturday's game against Birmingham Brother Rice at halftime. The De La Salle lost, 28-0, to fall to 2-2 for the season.

With Denard Robinson leaving after this season, Morris is expected to battle Devin Gardner and Russell Bellomy for Michigan's starting job next fall.
