Whether it’s being in the wrong place at the wrong time — or, in this case, the right place at the right time — Detroit Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh continues to make headlines both on and off the field like few players in the NFL.
This time, Suh reportedly came to the rescue to help save comedian Louie Anderson during a taping of the new television show, “Slash,” a celebrity diving contest that is scheduled to air this spring on ABC.
TMZ reported that Anderson “nearly sank to the bottom of the pool from sheer exhaustion.”
Suh, one of the show's participants, and former Olympic diver Greg Louganis combined to lift Anderson out of danger. The comedian proceeded to cough up water poolside, according to TMZ.
Lions coach Jim Schwartz had joked last week with reporters at the Senior Bowl that “there’ll be a tsunami somewhere” when the 6-foot-4, 307-pound Suh lands in the water on one of his dives.
This latest news, however, should help Suh's reputation at least a little. He is best known for “The Stomp” and “The Kick,” which led to a two-game suspension in 2011 and a $30,000 fine in 2012.
Now it’s “The Rescue.”
Anonymous sources around the league, who have taken numerous shots at Suh over the last year, have to be impressed by this one.

The Lions have hired former Denver Broncos general manager Brian Xanders as their new senior personnel executive.
Xanders spent three years as the Broncos’ GM before being let go last May when John Elway, head of football operations, decided to reorganize the club’s front office.
Xanders will be involved in college and pro scouting for the Lions, who have made some questionable decisions in recent drafts under general manager Martin Mayhew.
