Report: Sarkisian looking to trademark name like coaches before him
Name one thing Steve Sarkisian, Urban Meyer, Dabo Swinney and Gus Malzahn all have in common.
How about this: The aforementioned four have all pursued trademarks of their names.
Sarkisian became the latest to undergo the process, according to CBSSports.com. The first-year USC coach reportedly filed a trademark in November for "Sark," with the intent to brand it on clothing, accessories, information pertaining to college football and even videos. And that's only the beginning.
While at Washington, Sarkisian registered "Coach Sark" and "Bark for Sark."
Just think: Coach Sark could become the Kathy Ireland of college football coaches. Though, Sark might have some competition from Urban Meyer. Ohio State apparently is trying to trademark "Urban Meyer Knows."
Who knew.

On Wednesday, Sark was asked about the trademark. He said that it should be his agent who answers that question, via the LA Times.
"I'm just trying to get first downs," Sarkisian said.
He went on to say, "I probably don't want people using my name in vain, so I got to take care of myself."
Good for you, Sark. But we suspect that as long as USC wins football games, Trojan fans will have your back.
