Report: Rams to release Mikell

According to reports, the St. Louis Rams will release safety Quintin Mikell in an effort to cut costs.

The move, as first reported by the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, will save the Rams nearly $3 million in cap space, something the team desperately needs to do.

Mikell is coming off a strong year in which he finished fourth on the team in tackles with 93 and forced four fumbles. During his two-year stint in St. Louis, Mikell started all 32 games, solidifying the safety position for one of the most improved units over that time.

A ten-year veteran, Mikell will turn 33 this season.
