Report: Kevin Martin not returning to the Thunder
It appears Kevin Martin will not return to the Oklahoma City Thunder.
A number of reports have Martin signing a four-year, $28 million deal with Minnesota. Nothing is official until the first day of the free-agent signing period on July 10.
"Minny was my first option, outside OKC, so I've got to take it," Martin told Sam Amick of USA Today. "Especially being (with coach Rick) Adelman. And their starting lineup needed a guard, so I felt like it's a perfect fit.
Martin averaged 14 points per game last season, but it was his first season in nine in the NBA where he came off the bench. Martin had said he had a desire to be a starter again.
The apparent loss of Martin leaves the Thunder with just Russell Westbrook, Reggie Jackson and Jeremy Lamb at guard.
