Report: Cowboys' Hardy won't fight four-game suspension

After a few days of will-he-or-won't-he, Greg Hardy has announced that he will not seek litigation against the NFL to overturn his four-game suspension à la Tom Brady.

The Cowboys' defensive end was initially suspended for 10 games for violating the NFL's personal-conduct policy related to a July 2014 arrest for domestic violence.

In July, the suspension was reduced to four games.

Hardy released a statement to Pro Football Talk:

"While I am terribly disappointed to miss the first four games of this season, I am absolutely determined that my issue is not going to be a distraction for the Cowboys. I have enormous affection and respect for everyone here, and having seen the impact a court case can have on an NFL organization, I believe it is in the team's best interest for me to announce that I will not pursue any further litigation. Everything I do from this point on will be designed to bring glory and pride to my family, their family and this team."

Earlier in the week Cowboys VP Stephen Jones said the team was expecting Hardy to miss the entire four games.

"Our thoughts are right now are we are accepting that he won't be here for four games," he said. "If that were to change for the better, then great. But right now we're making plans as if he's going to be suspended for four."

Perhaps ironically, Hardy will be eligible to play again Oct. 11 when the Cowboys host the now suspension-less Tom Brady and the New England Patriots.
