A 16-year-old football player collapsed and died Monday night in Warren, Mass., the Boston Globe reported.
The player, who was identified as Michael Ellsessar by Boston's WBZ-TV, reportedly collapsed after catching a pass during a game against Quaboag Regional High School.
Ellsessar, a sophomore at Sutton High School, received CPR on the field from one of the referees before being taken to a nearby hospital, where he died.
His father, John Ellsessar, reportedly told WBZ-TV that his son was a Type 1 diabetic, but the cause of the young man’s death has yet to be determined.
