Reds place Hanigan on DL, call up Miller
The Reds made a pair of catching moves Thursday afternoon, putting Ryan Hanigan on the disabled list and recalling Corky Miller to take his place.
Hanigan is dealing with a sprained left wrist, and the move is retroactive to yesterday. Injuries have bothered the seventh-year veteran all season and previously sent him to the disabled list during the first month of the season. He is batting .193 with 2 home runs and 14 RBIs in 46 games this season.
Miller played six games for the Reds from April 23 through May 7 while Hanigan was previously on the DL. The 37-year-old fan favorite hit .125 (4 for 16) with a pair of strikeouts and no extra-base hits before being designated for assignment and sent back to Triple-A Louisville.
Devin Mesoraco is in the starting lineup at catcher and batting eighth for the Reds tonight as they begin a four-game series in Atlanta.
