CINCINNATI -- The Reds and third base coach Steve Smith have parted ways.
The team confirmed Monday that Smith would not be back as part of manager Bryan Price's coaching staff in 2015. Smith was hired to a one-year contract last December after previously working as a third base coach for Seattle (1996-99), Texas (2002-06), Philadelphia (2007-08) and Cleveland (2010-12). He has spent 38 years in professional baseball.
Smith became a lightning rod for criticism this past season as Reds base runners were thrown out at home plate 28 times in non-force out plays, the most in Major League baseball.

The rest of Price's staff is expected to return, the Reds announced.
