DETROIT -- The Red Wings had been doing better than last season in terms of injuries.

But during Sunday's game, Justin Abdelkader missed the third period because of an upper-body injury.

"He's day to day," Wings coach Mike Babcock said. "He's got a shoulder issue. It's not life-threatening. It might be for some guys, but Abby is tougher than most so for Abby it'll probably be shorter than most."

Abdelkader started the game on a line with Pavel Datsyuk and Henrik Zetterberg.

Abdelkader played 17 shifts in 12:39 and was plus-1. He was credited with one blocked shot.

Johan Franzen started the third period with Datsyuk and Zetterberg.
