DAVIE, Fla. (AP) -- Miami coach Joe Philbin has confirmed former Pro Bowl wide receiver Braylon Edwards had a workout with the Dolphins.

Philbin says the workout occurred in the middle of last week, a few days before the Dolphins held their first training camp practice.

The third overall pick in the 2005 draft, Edwards has 341 catches in seven NFL seasons.

The 29-year-old Edwards caught 15 passes for 181 yards in nine games for San Francisco last season, missing time with knee and shoulder injuries. The 49ers released him the final week of last season. His best year was 2007 when he had 80 receptions for 1,289 yards and 16 touchdowns in Cleveland.

The Dolphins traded wide receiver Brandon Marshall to Chicago in March and signed veteran free agent Chad Johnson in June.
