Recap: Evans leads SLU to 62-52 victory over Old Dominion

CANCUN, Mexico -- Dwayne Evans scored a game-high 21 points Wednesday and Saint Louis beat Old Dominion 62-52 to win third place in the Cancun Challenge.

Rob Loe scored 10 points for Saint Louis (6-1) but it was Evans who sparked the offense, making strong drives to the basket and establishing an inside game.

Aaron Bacote led Old Dominion (4-3) with 15 points, Ambrose Mosely scored 12 and Richard Ross grabbed a game-high 9 rebounds.

The Billikens led 29-27 at the half, then took control of the second period, leading by 13 at one point and outshooting the Monarchs 42.6 percent from the field to 34 percent.

Old Dominion beat Presbyterian 69-51 on Thursday, Georgia Southern 86-69 on Saturday and lost to West Virginia 78-60 on Tuesday in the semifinals.

Saint Louis beat Oral Roberts 72-55 on Thursday, Bowling Green 74-47 on Saturday and lost 63-57 to Wisconsin on Tuesday.
