Rays Opening Day on Sun Sports to feature nine consecutive hours of coverage


TAMPA, Fla. -- As Tampa Bay readies for the much-anticipated return of Rays baseball, Sun Sports, the statewide television home of the Rays, is excited to announce its extended coverage of Rays Opening Day on Monday, April 6th. This year, fans should tune in to Sun Sports starting at 1:00 p.m. for a full afternoon and evening of Rays programming.
Sun Sports will present Rays Opening Day like never before, with live pregame show coverage starting statewide at 1:30 p.m. from Tropicana Field. A broadcast team of six will provide extensive analysis as Rays broadcasters Dewayne Staats, Brian Anderson, Emily Austen, Orestes Destrade, Doug Waechter and Todd Kalas will all play a role. Rays Owner Stuart Sternberg, Team President Brian Auld and President of Baseball Operations Matthew Silverman are all scheduled to join to the broadcast throughout the day.
Additionally, a new JIB camera will provide aerial perspectives both inside and outside Tropicana Field, while the pregame show will roll out "red carpet" reporting with player arrivals and interviews outside the clubhouse and dugout. The pregame show will also include the Rays retirement ceremony of Don Zimmer's uniform. All the action culminates with the first pitch at 3:10 p.m. as the Rays open up their 2015 season vs. the Baltimore Orioles.
