Rays honor reliever Grant Balfour's late father with fitting blue socks tribute
The Tampa Bay Rays honored reliever Grant Balfour's late father with a fitting blue tribute.
On Sunday, the Rays wore light blue socks in their exhibition game against the New York Mets in Port Charlotte, Florida, to honor David Balfour, a former general manager of the Sydney Blue Sox of the Australian Baseball League. David died last Tuesday after a lengthy battle with pancreatic cancer. He was 62.
Grant returned to Rays camp Sunday after tending to his ailing father in Australia. The funeral was Friday.
#Rays Balfour is back, seems at peace and good frame of mind after father's passing in Australia, says he'll draw motivation from it.
