Alex Cobb threw a third rehab start with the Class A Charlotte Stone Crabs on Friday night in Ft. Myers, Fla.

He threw 4 1/3 innings (78 pitches) and allowed three runs, five hits and struck out five batters against the Ft. Myers Miracle, a Minnesota Twins affiliate.

The Tampa Bay Rays right-hander has eyed a mid-August return to the majors, possibly during the upcoming six-game homestand that begins next Tuesday against the Seattle Mariners.

Cobb, 25, last pitched for the Rays on June 15, when he sustained a mild concussion after a line drive off the bat of the Kansas City Royals' Eric Hosmer struck him on the right ear. He was placed on the concussion disabled list a day later.

Cobb is 6-2 with a 3.01 ERA in 13 starts this season.
