Rattlers players climbing record book as team looks for Arena Bowl berth
PHOENIX -- With three Arena Bowl titles since 2012 and five overall, there should be no surprise that Arizona Rattlers players have begun to pop up in the AFL's all-time record books.
As they prepare to take on Cleveland on Saturday in the National Conference Championship game at Talking Stick Resort Arena, the Rattlers have current and former players littered all through the record books.
Nick Davila, the Rattlers star quarterback, has been tearing up AFL defenses for years and it's beginning to show on his stat line. He ranks second in career yards per attempt, third in quarterback rating, and fifth in completion percentage. He's sitting at eighth place for career passing yards.
Davila isn't surprised at all that he's been seeing his and his teammates' names moving their way into the AFL's record books.
"We've played some good football in the last couple years, scoring some points," Davila said. It's good to see those things but we want to win championships. That's what a competitor is measured on."
Most recently, Rattlers fullback Mykel Benson moved into the top five in terms of career rushing attempts. He is ninth in rushing touchdowns and 11th in rushing yards.

"It's no surprise, we're playmakers, that's what we want to do," Benson said.
Rattlers coach Kevin Guy is climbing up the all-time wins list. He is 4th on the list. Guy said the key to consistency is to enjoy the work that it takes.
"I try to tell the players that they've got to enjoy the moment, embrace the grind, because it is a grind," Guy said.
For obscure record book facts, Luis Zendejas is fourth all time for two-point kick tries (drop kicks).
The Rattlers have others who are working their way up.
Maurice Purify is 13th in yards per reception. Cliff Dukes and Tyre Glasper are sitting on the all-time sack list at 15th and 27th, respectively. Rod Windsor is sitting at 14th for career receptions, 12th for receiving yards and 11th in receiving touchdowns.
