ARLINGTON, Texas -- The Texas Rangers haven't made a decision about whether or not suspended slugger would play for the club if it made the postseason.

Texas general manager Jon Daniels said the club has to make the playoffs first, and then it will decide on what that means for Cruz.

"Our goal right now, as it always is, is to keep all our options open," Daniels said. "We want to do what we can to keep him in as good of baseball shape as possible. First all we've got to get there. At that point, a lot of different factors – what kind of shape's he in, how's the team playing, how's the team jelling, how are our other guys performing. We'll try to make an evaluation at that point."

Cruz will return to his home in the Dominican Republic tomorrow. He'll work at his home as well as spend some time at the team's facility in Boca Chica.

After that the team will determine the next step for Cruz, who was suspended for the final 50 games of the season last Monday.
