Rangers set to help victims in West, Texas

ARLINGTON, Texas – Rangers fans have given generously to help the victims of the West, Texas, fertilizer plant explosion. On Sunday, fans can help give the gift of life itself.

The Rangers and Carter BloodCare will host a blood drive for fans coming to Sunday’s game against the Mariners. Many of the region’s blood supplies were depleted to help victims of the explosion and fires Wednesday night.

The blood drive will be from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. in the Texas Rangers Hall of Fame, located in the concourse behind the Lower Home Run Porch. Sunday’s game is a 2:05 p.m. start.

In a statement, the Rangers said they have been overwhelmed by the generosity of their fans this weekend in donating items to assist the victims in West, a town about 70 miles south of Arlington.

For those planning to donate items on Sunday, officials from the City of West have requested that fans do so in the form of gift cards or cash donations.

West officials indicated to the club that the city’s residents will have long-term needs and cash or gift cards is the best way to address them.

Donations will be collected outside Rangers Ballpark gates starting at noon Sunday and continuing until 30 minutes after the first pitch.

The Rangers will deliver the items collected to the citizens of West sometime next week.
