ARLINGTON, Texas -- Right-hander Cory Burns was sent to Triple A Round Rock Wednesday to clear a roster spot for starter Ross Wolf.
Burns pitched in three games for the Rangers since he was recalled last Thursday, posting a 4.91 ERA.
"Somebody had to go," Texas manager Ron Washington said. "(Neal) Cotts, we wanted him here. That's the decision. When you look at it, he (Burns) is the 25th man."
Cotts, a lefty who was recalled from Round Rock yesterday, gives the Rangers four left-handers in the bullpen with him, Robbie Ross, Michael Kirkman and Joseph Ortiz. Cotts pitched a perfect ninth against Oakland in his first major-league action in four years.
In addition to the roster move, the rotation for the next few games is starting to take shape. The Rangers plan to start Justin Grimm, Derek Holland and Nick Tepesch in the three game series at Seattle. That could change if Tepesch's blister hasn't healed.
For the doubleheader in Arizona Monday, Yu Darvish will start the first game. The club is undecided on the second game. Because of the scheduled doubleheader, the Rangers are allowed to call up an additional player for that day.
