The Texas Rangers will open the 2013 March 31 against the Houston Astros in baseball's season opener.
The game at Minute Maid Park will begin at 7 p.m.
This marks the third time the Rangers have played in baseball's first game. It also happened in 2001 against Toronto in Puerto Rico and in 2003 against the Los Angeles Angels.
The series will follow the Sunday opener with an April 1 off day before resuming April 2.
The series against the Astros will cap a trip through Texas for the Rangers. The club will play against the Mexico City Red Devils March 28 at Rangers Ballpark and then head to San Antonio for a two-game exhibition series against the San Diego Padres in the Alamodome.
