Rangers reach deals with 16 players

SURPRISE, Ariz. -- The Texas Rangers agreed to deals with 16 of their pre-arbitration eligible players Friday, leaving just seven players on the major-league roster unsigned.

The highest-paid player among those agreeing to deals was right-hander Nick Tepesch, who will earn $517,760 on his split major-league contract. Second baseman Rougned Odor will make $513,850.

Also agreeing to deals were pitchers Lisalverto Bonilla, Alex Claudio, Jon Edwards, Jerad Eickhoff, Spencer Patton and Anthony Ranaudo. Catchers Jorge Alfaro and Tomas Telis also agreed to deals along with infielders Hanser Alberto and Jurickson Profar. The outfielders getting deals done were Michael Choice, Delino DeShields Jr., Ryan Rua and Jake Smolinski.

The seven players that haven't agreed to deals yet are Robinson Chirinos, Luke Jackson, Phil Klein, Nick Martinez, Roman Mendez, Tanner Scheppers and Shawn Tolleson.
