The Texas Rangers rotation, which has been excellent in the first month of the season, took steps towards getting another boost Monday.

Right-hander Colby Lewis, who is rehabbing from right flexor tendon surgery, pitched in his first game since injuring his arm last year.

Lewis threw 17 pitches in an extended spring game in Surprise, Ariz., and reported no issues.

The Rangers had targeted a late May or early June return for Lewis, who hasn’t pitched in a game for Texas since last July.
