Rangers' Fielder scratched again
ARLINGTON, Texas - The Texas Rangers had short-lived good news on Prince Fielder and his herniated neck disk Tuesday.
It didn't last long.
Fielder was in the team's original lineup Tuesday but was scratched after having some weakness in his left arm after hitting off a tee.
Fielder received an injection Saturday and was feeling better before trying to hit. General manager Jon Daniels said "medium" when asked about his level of concern about Fielder, who was supposed to be the designated hitter and hit fifth.
"I'm not too concerned now because there's nothing I do right now besides give it the extra day," Fielder said. "I plan on playing tomorrow. That's the plan. Hopefully, another day will do it."
Fielder had company on the scratch list. Leonys Martin was slated to leadoff for the Rangers Tuesday but was also scratched because of a stiff neck.
Fielder had his streak of 547 consecutive games played snapped Saturday. He hadn't missed consecutive games since 2007 and this is the first season he's missed more than one game since 2008.
