Randy Moss: Sky is the limit if Tony Romo targets Dez Bryant more
IRVING â Two of Tony Romo's three interceptions on Sunday came after he targeted a double- and triple-covered Dez Bryant.
Before the game, that's exactly what former Pro Bowl wide receiver Randy Moss was asking for.
"I think if Tony Romo would look at him a little more, instead of Jason Witten," Moss suggested during the FOX pregame show when asked about how Bryant's numbers can get even better. "Jason Witten is a possession receiver. Dez Bryant is the home-run hitter. I think if you look more at Dez in certain situations, the sky is the limit for him and that whole offense."
Bryant and Witten were each targeted six times against San Francisco. Romo's third interception came on an endzone pass intended for Witten.
Witten finished with two catches for 14 yards. Bryant hauled in four passes for 55 yards.
"Dez Bryant, if you look at his whole body of work throughout his career, he's gotten doubled throughout most games he's every played," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said Monday. "The same thing with Jason Witten. These guys are really good players. Week in and week out they find ways, we've tried to find ways to give them opportunities."
But Garrett would prefer that Romo doesn't force the ball to either of the team's top pass-catchers.
"I think it's pretty clear â you don't force the ball to people," Garrett said. "Dez is a great player, but Wit's a great player, too.
"Tony's typically struck a really nice balance about trying to give these guys a chance and understanding how to read things out and throwing the ball to the right guy. In each of those cases, he probably was too aggressive throwing to Dez, and those plays hurt us, obviously."
