Rams sign wide receiver Kenny Britt to one-year deal
ST. LOUIS -- Jeff Fisher and Kenny Britt will be reunited in St. Louis next season after the free-agent wide receiver agreed to a one-year deal with the Rams on Monday, a source confirmed to FOX Sports 1 NFL Insider Alex Marvez.
The 6-foot-3, 223-pounder, who agreed to a $1.4 million deal that includes incentives, according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch, was a first-round draft pick by Fisher and the Tennessee Titans in 2009.
The 25-year-old picked the Rams after also considering Carolina, Buffalo and New England.
Britt caught 82 passes for 1,476 yards and 12 touchdowns in 28 games in his first two seasons but has not been the same player since suffering a right knee injury early in the 2011 season. He has become better known for off-the-field issues.
He had 45 catches for 589 yards and four touchdowns in 14 games in 2012 and 11 catches for 96 yards and no scores in 12 games in 2013.
In St. Louis, Britt joins a cast of unproven and young wide receivers who have yet to emerge as consistent playmakers for the Rams.
Tight end Jared Cook led St. Louis with 51 catches, 671 yards and five touchdowns last season, and the team's leading wide receivers were rookie Tavon Austin (40 catches, 418 yards, four TDs), Austin Pettis (38 catches, 399 yards, four TDs) and Chris Givens (34 catches, 569 yards, zero TDs).
