QB Connor Brewer transfers from Arizona to NAU
FLAGSTAFF, Ariz. -- Northern Arizona head football coach Jerome Souers announced the addition of quarterback Connor Brewer, a transfer from Arizona, to the Lumberjacks roster. Brewer, an all-state and all-area selection while in high school, is eligible to compete for NAU this upcoming fall season.
"The most exciting thing for us is we think it's another example of the direction of the program," said Souers. "The fact that another top talent wants to come to NAU and be a part of what we have going on just shows where we're headed. Connor is obviously a very talented football player, but there's a lot more to it. He's a great student; graduating in three and a half years is impressive. Connor is a hard worker and just a really great young man."
Brewer comes to NAU after a two-year stint at the University of Arizona. He had transferred to Arizona following one year at the University of Texas, where he redshirted.
"There's a lot of positive energy surrounding NAU football right now, and adding Connor to the mix definitely brings another element of excitement," said quarterbacks coach Tim Plough. "He's thrilled to prove what he can do, I think he's just looking forward to have a fair chance to compete and get on the field; that's all a QB can ask for."
Coming out of Chaparral High School, Brewer led his team to a 41-2 record and three 5A state titles. Highly recruited out of high school, Brewer was an ESPN top 150 recruit.
"The process was a long one, but at the end of the day we know it's a great fit for us, Connor and his family," Souers said. "We're excited to get him here, and we know he's chomping at the bit to compete."
