Puk pitches Florida past South Florida 8-2

GAINESVILLE, Fla. (AP) -- A.J. Puk struck out eight in seven scoreless innings, leading Florida to an 8-2 victory against South Florida on Saturday night in the Gainesville Regional.
The Gators (46-16) advanced to face the winner of the game between Florida Atlantic and USF on Sunday in the NCAA Tournament.
Buddy Reed and Harrison Bader each hit two-run homers, and Peter Alonso had two hits and two RBIs. Florida had eight players reach base, and six finished with at least two hits.
Puk (9-3) allowed four hits in the win, while Ryan Valdes (5-4) gave up five runs and 10 hits in six innings for the Bulls (34-25-1).
