Pryor among Bengals tryouts
The Bengals ended up signing wide receiver Greg Little to the active roster and Cobi Hamilton the practice squad, but there was one other notable name that was at Paul Brown Stadium on Tuesday.
Former Ohio State standout Terrelle Pryor was one of the 10 players in for tryouts and worked out at quarterback. The tryout was first reported by Pro Football Talk and later showed up when the league's daily transaction report was released.
Pryor, who was released by Seattle after the final preseason game, also had a tryout a couple weeks ago with Tampa Bay.
Bengals offensive coordinator Hue Jackson knows Pryor well. He was the head coach in Oakland in 2011 when Pryor was taken in the supplemental draft. Pryor spent three seasons with the Raiders and played in 16 games, starting 10. In nine starts for the Raiders last year, he completed 57.4 percent with seven touchdowns against 11 interceptions along with having a 3-6 record. During the offseason, Pryor was traded to the Seahawks for a seventh-round pick.
Pryor's most notable play in the NFL is a 93-yard touchdown run last season against the Steelers. It is the longest run by a quarterback in league history. Pryor didn't end up being signed but the fact that teams including the Bengals are kicking the tires shows that there is still interest around the league.
Little, who spent three seasons with the Browns, beat out former Colts receiver Da'Rick Rogers for a roster spot. Safety Chris Clemons, who spent four seasons with the Dolphins and was thought by many to possibly be one of the Texans starting safeties in the offseason, also had a tryout.
The other players in on Tuesday were linebacker Moise Fokou, Erin Henderson and former Buckeye Austin Spitler along with safeties M.D. Jennings and Shiloh Keo.
