PREP ZONE: Mission Viejo select St. John Bosco offensive coordinator Chad Johnson as new head coach
The new head coach of the Mission Viejo High School football team will have a very familiar last name.
St. John Bosco offensive coordinator Chad Johnson has been tipped to fill the role held by Orange County high school football coaching legend Bob Johnson, who leaves the Diablos after 19 seasons and six CIF-SS titles.

An El Toro graduate, Johnson led the Bosco offense to CIF-SS titles in 2013 and 2016, as well as a national title in 2013. Johnson also helped develop current UCLA quarterback and potential No. 1 pick Josh Rosen during his time with the Braves.
At Mission Viejo, Johnson inherits another standout QB in Joey Yellen. The junior was 12-1 last season, losing to eventual champs Mater Dei in the CIF-SS semifinals, and threw for 29 touchdowns.
