Police: Youth football player's dad tackles coach after he ends team's season
Police arrested a New Jersey man who ran across a field and tackled the coach of his son's youth football team Sunday after learning that the coach canceled the team's season on account of poor sportsmanship and bad attitudes, according to the Asbury Park Press.
The 46-year-old father, Joseph Oleske of Toms River, N.J., had been filming the game in the booth, after which he learned that the coach had told the players to turn in their equipment, citing ongoing issues with attitudes.
Clearly, tackling and football fundamentals are not what was ailing that team.
Oleske, described by witnesses as the sole aggressor, said he only wanted to talk to the coach and acted in self-defense, the paper reported.
Oleske recorded just the one solo tackle on the day and picked up one charge for simple assault.
