Podcast: Sweet Sixteen preview, picks
ATLANTA -- The NCAA tournament was the talk of the sports world once again this past weekend—and for good reason.
Nothing quite matches the nonstop viewing demands of the Big Dance, and with an unpredictable opening week that saw the first No. 15 seed advance to the Sweet Sixteen, the Big Ten extend its dominance to the postseason and memorable individual performances and buzzer beaters the action is not likely to stop in the next round.
With Gonzaga falling to Wichita State, three No. 1 seeds (Louisville, Indiana, Kansas) are still alive. However, with the Hoosiers and Jayhawks already facing significant tests, the race to Atlanta—and the Final Four—is far from decided. Michigan, Michigan State, Duke, Arizona and Miami also looked impressive in their opening games and should be able to push the top seeds.
FOX Sports South's college basketball writers Zach Dillard, Jay Clemons and Cory McCartney sat down on Monday to discuss the tourney's major storylines and what to expect in the Sweet Sixteen. Here are a few of the highlights:
-- How busted is your bracket? There are no perfect brackets remaining anywhere in the world (officially speaking), but how far off were our writers?
-- Is Kansas even the favorite in its own region? After being tested by Western Kentucky and North Carolina, the Jayhawks look rather vulnerable to the likes of Michigan and Florida next weekend?
-- Could the Big Ten conceivably place four teams in the Final Four?
-- Which No. 1 seed has the toughest test remaining to reach Atlanta?
-- Is the West already won?
