Phoenix FC makes home debut vs. Tampa Bay
The Phoenix FC Wolves plays its first home game in franchise history on Saturday night when it hosts VSI Tampa Bay FC in a battle of USL Pro League expansion teams at 7:30 p.m. at Sun Devil Soccer Stadium.
Tampa Bay will be making its franchise debut, while Phoenix will be trying to get its inaugural victory after opening its first season with a 2-0 loss to the Los Angeles Blues last week in California.
Tampa Bay boasts a seasoned roster led by veteran forward Mauricio Salles.
Starters Darren Mackie and Devon Grousis missed the Phoenix opener due to injuries, and the team was further hindered when midfielder Anthony Obodai received a red card late in the first half, forcing the Wolves to play more than half the game with 10 players.
Mackie and Grousis are listed as probable for Saturday night and will be game-time decisions. Brazilians Renan Felipe Boufleur, Diego Faria and Netinho and former MLS goalkeeper and local native Andrew Weber are expected to be in Phoenix's starting lineup.
