When it comes to Olympic swimmers, he's the gold standard. And together with a Hollywood socialite, they could be sports' new "it" couple.
Michael Phelps, winner of a record eight gold medals at the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games, was spotted with Brittny Gastineau, the socialite daughter of former New York Jets star Mark Gastineau, last weekend in L.A., according to TMZ.
TMZ reports that the 25-year-old Phelps recently began seeing the 28-year-old model and former reality TV star, and that the two got "very cozy" at the Mondrian Hotel on Friday night.
Gastineau is a former model and starred in the E! Network show Gastineau Girls from 2005-2006 as well as making a number of other television appearances.
Phelps previously was linked to Miss California USA 2010 Nicole Johnson.
