Peyton Manning: No big deal Manziel left early
Denver Broncos quarterback Peyton Manning downplayed Texas A&M quarterback Johnny Manziel missing some meetings at the Manning Passing Academy over the weekend. Heck, Manning said, even little brother Eli did that.
"I enjoyed meeting Johnny," Manning said in comments to ESPN.com. "I can remember a 20-year-old Eli missing a meeting [at camp] and catching some flak. We always have counselors who leave early. Johnny was great with the campers for the time he was here. He had to leave early. I wish him the best and I want him to come back as a counselor next year."
A report cited anonymous sources claiming Manziel was asked to leave the camp, by none other than Manning patriarch Archie, when he showed up late after a night of partying.
The camp's official statement was that Manziel said he was ill and all parties agreed that it was best for him to leave early.
Later that night, multiple social media postings said Manziel was spotted in the bar and entertainment district of College Station. However, Manziel's father, Paul, texted a Dallas Morning News reporter that his son was home recuperating from dehydration.
