Peterson named Offensive Player of the Week
Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson was named NFC Offensive Player of the Week by the NFL on Wednesday after his 154-yard, two touchdown rushing performance against the Chicago Bears. It was his seventh straight 100-yard game, the longest streak in team history.
The award is Peterson's second Player of the Week honor this year, the last one coming in Week 7. It is also the seventh of his career, tops among all active running backs.
Peterson leads the NFL in rushing yards with 1,600 and has his eyes set on Eric Dickerson's single-season rushing record of 2,105 yards. He would need to average 168.7 yards in the final three games this year to break it.
His 10 rushing touchdowns lead the NFC and are tied for second-most in the NFL. Peterson is the second running back in league history to rush for at least 10 touchdowns in each of his first six seasons.
