New Orleans Pelicans forward Darius Miller is not beginning his second year as a pro the way he intended.

Miller suffered a stress fracture in his left foot and is now expected to miss eight to 12 weeks.

Team doctors discovered the injury after Miller experienced discomfort recently.

Dr. Richard Ferkel of Southern California Orthopedic Institute surgically repaired the stress fracture in Miller's foot.

Miller is set to return to New Orleans on Sept. 10 to begin the rehabilitation process. He averaged 13.3 minutes and 2.3 points in 52 games as a rookie.
