After two games, goaltender Jacob Markstrom has been reassigned back to San Antonio (AHL), Florida Panthers general manager Dale Tallon announced Monday.
Markstrom started the past two games in net for the Panthers, but was unable to provide the lift the team needed.
He stopped 37 of 40 shots in a 3-1 loss at Pittsburgh on Feb. 22. On Sunday, Markstrom gave up three more goals on 31 shots, in a 4-1 loss to the Bruins.
A second round pick of the Panthers in the 2008 draft, Markstrom, 23, was recalled last week.
The Panthers are currently last in the league with 3.61 goals allowed per game. In 12 games, Jose Theodore has a 3.37 GAA, while Scott Clemensen has a 3.86 GAA in five games.
Prior to being called up, Markstrom had played in 33 games for the Rampage this season. He is 16-15-2 with a 2.65 GAA and .920 save percentage. He has allowed two or fewer goals in 11 of last 16 AHL starts.
