Two-time NHL All-Star center Scott Gomez has agreed to a one-year contract with the Florida Panthers, executive vice president and general manager Dale Tallon announced Wednesday.
Gomez, 33, has played for four teams over a 13-year career. Last season in San Jose, he recorded two goals and 13 assists in 39 games.
He ranks first among active U.S. born players in assists (530) and points (701) and second in games played (941).
"Scott is a veteran center who adds further depth to the middle of our lineup," said Tallon. "He is a quick and skilled forward, with a wealth of hockey experience including two Stanley Cup titles, who will be a leader for our younger players."
Gomez, who was an All-Star in 2000 and 2008, made three Stanley Cup Finals appearances with the New Jersey Devils, winning it all in 2000 and 2003.
