Pacers want more than home-court advantage
The Pacers are headed back to Indianapolis with home court in their series against Miami after they beat the Heat 78-75 on Tuesday.
But the Pacers aren't satisfied. They know they've still got some unfinished business.
"We can't get too excited because we won one game," F David West said. "That is not our goal in this series. We can't overreact because we were able to get one game down here."
Games 3 and 4 are in Indianapolis on Thursday and Sunday.
If the first half was any indication, it looked like the Pacers would be going home down 0-2.
The Heat had the Pacers frustrated on offense because they couldn't run their sets.
Things changed in the second half for the Pacers. They went from trailing by five points to leading by as many as 11 points in the third quarter. And that's why the series is tied.
"We just have to understand that the way we felt after Game 1 is how they're feeling right now," coach Frank Vogel said. "They're going to come and bring everyone they have in Game 3. We can't think about winning two at home. We have to think about one thing and that is keeping an edge while their edge just got sharper."
The Pacers won only their fifth playoff game in franchise history when they scored fewer than 80 points. The 78 points tied for the second fewest in a playoff win and it was the first time they won by scoring 78 or less since they beat Detroit during the 2004 playoffs.
Pacers G Paul George has been selected to be a member of the USA Select team this summer. He'll practice against the US Olympic team in preparation for the Olympics in London this summer.
"That's definitely an honor," George said. "I think that's a great way to start my summer regimen as far as working out and getting prepared for next season. The chance to work out against the stars of the league is a great way for me to start off my summer."
"Welcome to Eastern Conference playoff basketball. Obviously we're very pleased to get the win." Coach .
