Outkick's Top Ten For Week 9 2016

Outkick's Top Ten For Week 9 2016

At this rate, we won't even need a college football selection committee at all.

Because the undefeated teams came tumbling down on Saturday with Nebraska, West Virginia and Baylor all falling by the wayside.

The result?

There are only four undefeated teams left in major college football and we haven't even gotten to November yet.

With that in mind, here is Outkick's top ten.

(Remember, I judge the teams entirely by what we've seen on the field.)

1. Alabama

The Crimson Tide had a bye week and will travel to LSU this coming weekend.

Nick Saban against Ed Orgeron has to be the most entertaining coaching match up of the year.

2. Clemson

Yes, the Tigers should have lost to N.C. State, but they got a gritty win on the road at Florida State, beat Louisville, and have a road win at Auburn.

So if you compare on the field resumes, they have the second best resume of any team in college football this year.

And they're the only team on this list with two top ten Outkick wins.

3. Michigan

The Wolverines were just okay on the road at Michigan State and they still haven't played much in the way of competition. Sure, they beat Wisconsin and Colorado, but both of those games were at home.

Put simply, I don't feel like we actually know how good Michigan is.

4. Washington

Speaking of playing no one, the Huskies finally got a win over a top 25 opponent in Utah, but it's possible they won't play another ranked team all season, including in the Pac 12 title game.

How good is Washington?

We really don't know that either.

5. Texas A&M

The Aggies get a bump up here because I think their resume is now better than any of the other one loss teams.

How so?

That Aggie road win over Auburn is much better than Louisville's win over Florida State now that the Seminoles have three losses.

6. Louisville

The Cardinals have looked very ordinary in two of their last three games. They shouldn't have needed late heroics from Lamar Jackson to win at Virginia.

Given that Clemson won at FSU, it's virtually impossible to see how Louisville wins its ACC division. It's also increasingly hard to see how the Cardinals make the playoff.

7. Ohio State

The Buckeyes looked bad for a second straight week, but at least this time they won.

Is there any Buckeye fan who feels confident in this offense right now?

8. Wisconsin

The Badgers completed their schedule gauntlet with an overtime win over Nebraska. Now Wisconsin should win their final four games to finish 10-2. Given that Nebraska heads to Ohio State next weekend, that probably means Wisconsin will win the Big Ten West and get a rematch with either Michigan or Ohio State.

9. Auburn

The Tigers won and hit the over, cashing our double blood bank guarantee in the process. Now with only Vandy and at Georgia left on the SEC schedule, the Tigers should be 9-2 and 6-1 in the SEC when they roll into Alabama to play for the SEC West title.

10. LSU

The Tigers were on their bye week.

Now, if you listen to their defensive players, they're ready to dominate Alabama.

...

There you have it, boys and girls, the best top ten in the country.
