OU's Seibert even feels bad for Texas
Austin Seibert is perfect on field goal tries this season for Oklahoma.
He's made all four of his attempts. The freshman has also punted for an average of 45.8 yards per try on 16 attempts.
He's the first freshman in school history to earn the starting kicking and punting job. He knows how difficult it is.
And apparently Seibert also has a heart. Even when it comes to Texas.
Texas has had a pair of tough losses the past two games â both of them centering around kicking and punting. Against Cal, kicker Nick Rose missed an extra point that would have sent the game to overtime. Instead, Texas lost by a point.
Against Oklahoma State, last week, punter Michael Dickson let the ball go through his hands on a perfectly good snap. The result was a punt that went for negative-6 yards and allowed OSU to kick the game-winning field goal in the final seconds.
"I feel bad for those guys," Seibert said of the Texas situation. "You've got to prepare for that stuff in practice. You've got to get punt snaps. You've got to kick field goals."
Seibert went on to say he's never dropped a punt snap in a game, but he has in practice.
"Let's just say I did a bunch of snap catches after that," he said.
