Ortiz brothers rule Aqueduct, win both $100,000 stakes

NEW YORK (AP) The Ortiz brothers each rode a winner in $100,000 stakes for 3-year-old fillies on Sunday at Aqueduct.

They combined to capture six of the 10 races on the card.

Irad Ortiz Jr. had the better afternoon with five wins. He took the Maddie May for New York breds with Frosty Margarita, beating Katniss the Victor, with brother Jose aboard, by a nose.

It was the third straight state-bred stakes win for the filly trained by Rudy Rodriguez.

Frosty Margarita ran the one mile, 70 yards in 1:44.91, paying $3.40 to win as the 3-5 favorite.

Jose Ortiz got his stakes when Flora Dora rallied to beat Scatoosh by a length in the Busher.

It was the second win in five starts for the filly trained by Marialice Coffey. Flora Dora covered the one mile, 70 yards in 1:45.40, returning $7.40 to win.
