One round down at NFL Draft and no running backs are gone
The last time a running back wasn't taken in the first round? You'll have to go back to 1963. That's right, 1963, when there were just 14 picks in the opening round. Now, we had an idea that something like this might happen this year. If you look up and down the draft board, you'll notice a surprising lack of standout stars at the position. The closest you might come to one is Alabama's Eddie Lacy. However, even his impressive senior season and mauling of Notre Dame in the BCS title game wasn't enough to sway NFL teams to spend early. Looks like there is truth to what people say about the NFL being a passing league. Or, you could just ask Hall of Fame Marshall Faulk:
It's sad what has happen to the #RB position. — Marshall Faulk (@marshallfaulk) April 26, 2013
Looks like we're looking to Day 2. Let's see which team takes Lacy ... or Montee Ball ... or Marcus Lattimore ... or Stepfan Taylor ... or whomever else.
