Oklahoma WR Basquine to miss season with Achilles injury

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) -- Oklahoma receiver Nick Basquine will miss the season with an Achilles injury.

Coach Lincoln Riley made the announcement Saturday during Oklahoma's Media Day. He injured the ankle in practice.

Basquine caught 20 passes for 265 yards and two touchdowns last season. He was expected to take on an expanded role this season. Oklahoma was already trying to replace the production lost from Biletnikoff Award winner Dede Westbrook, who was a senior last season.

It was the second season-ending injury the Sooners announced during the week. Reserve offensive lineman Alex Dalton suffered a knee injury before fall camp began.
