Oklahoma center on loss to Texas: 'It's embarrassing'

NORMAN, Okla. - Oklahoma center Ty Darlington had some harsh words for his teammates Monday.

The Sooners lost to Texas Saturday in the Cotton Bowl, 24-17 and OU's senior center said it was "embarrassing."

Darlington was one of a number of Sooner captains who spoke after the game inside the locker room.

"It was unacceptable and embarrassing," Darlington said. "And what t's going to take from here on out is an incredible level of character. All is not lost. We have a lot of opportunities to prove who we are. Pulling forward is going to take an individual commitment from each guy. It's a wake-up call for us. We have to make a jump and it starts now."

The Oklahoma offensive line took a lot of blame for the loss. OU averaged less than 2 yards per carry and quarterback Baker Mayfield was sacked six time, the most by Texas against Oklahoma in the 100-plus years since the teams started playing.

"It has to be something you have to take it personal," Darlington said. "That's the only way it changes. We have to do things better as a team and each group has to look at it as 'this is our fault.'"
