A topsy-turvy week in college basketball has the defending champs back atop the rankings.

Duke climbs from No. 5 last week in both polls to No. 1 in both this week after last week's top four teams each suffered road defeats.

Ohio State remains second in the Associated Press Poll and third in the new ESPN/USA Today Coaches Poll.

Duke got 25 first-place votes from the AP. Pitt was next with 12, followed by Ohio State (10) and Kansas (5). Duke got 19 of the 31 first-place votes from the coaches. Ohio State and Pitt each received 4.

In this week's Coaches Poll, last week's No. 1 Kansas slips down a spot, with Ohio State, San Diego State and Texas rounding out the top five. Pitt, unexplainably, is sixth.

The AP ranks Kansas third, Pitt fourth, Texas fifth and San Diego State sixth.

Xavier remains 25th in the AP Poll and just out of the Coaches Poll, finishing behind Old Dominion amongst the "others receiving votes."
