The athletic department at Ohio University has confirmed that nose tackle Marcellis Williamson has died at the age of 23.
The OU student newspaper is speculating that his death may be the result of a heart attack with the following passage:
"Friends of Williamson said he suffered a heart attack though no official cause of death has been released. An attendant at Euclid Hospital in Euclid, Ohio, confirmed at 10:45 p.m. Wednesday that Williamson was a patient earlier in the day and had been discharged."
The starting nose tackle for the Bobcats in the 2009 and 2010 season, Williamson graduated at the conclusion of the 2010 season.
Williamson had left a Facebook message approximately 24 hours before his death that stated he was blessed to be awake and to "enjoy today because tomorrow isn't guaranteed!!"
