NEW YORK (AP) Offering Plan won the $100,000 English Channel Stakes on Sunday, giving trainer Chad Brown another victory at Belmont Park.
This time, the meet's leading trainer did it with his ''other'' horse in the mile race for 3-year-olds on the turf.
March, Brown's multiple stakes winner on dirt making his grass debut, finished fourth as the 2-1 favorite.
Offering Plan, overlooked at 9-1, saved the day for Brown with a rally from seventh to beat Team Colors by 1 1/4 lengths.
Javier Castellano was aboard as Offering Plan, whose previous two wins came in races restricted to New York breds, got his first victory in open company.
''I give all the credit to the trainer,'' Castellano said. ''Offering Plan was very impressive today which didn't surprise me because of the way Chad Brown has been training lately.''
The time was 1:32.68 on the firm course.
Offering Plan paid $21.20, $9.80 and $5.30. Team Colors returned $5.90 and $3.70, and A Lot paid $2.50 to show.
