Oakland hits free throws to top Ohio 78-66

Athens, Ohio -- Ledrick Eackles scored 18 points and Oakland (Mich.) dominated from the free-throw line to defeat Ohio 78-66 on Monday night.
The Golden Grizzlies (1-1) hit 27 of 35 foul shots, 19 of 26 in the second half, and made 23 of 50 field goals (46 percent).
Oakland used a 16-0 run to lead 22-6 with 7:48 left in the first half, but the Bobcats (1-1) scored six unanswered points in the last 51 seconds before halftime to trail 35-24.
Ohio cut the gap to seven twice in the second half, the second time with 16:07 to go, but could get no closer.
The Bobcats shot 33.8 percent (23 of 68) from the field and 45.5 percent (10 of 22) from the free throw line.
Larry Wright added 15 points and nine rebounds for the Golden Grizzlies and Reggie Hamilton had 14 points in the second game of a seven-game road trip.
Tommy Freeman led Ohio with 22 points and D.J. Cooper had 18.
