Notre Dame, Michigan pass Ohio State in CFB popularity poll
Ohio State has not lost a football game since the second day of January in 2012, but the Buckeyes apparently are not immune to the whims of the fickle fans of college football.
According to a survey by Harris Interactive (via CNBC.com), Ohio State dropped from No. 1 to No. 3 in their annual poll of favorite teams in the nation.
And if you're assuming the results are another example of the SEC's influence continuing to spread, think again. The top team in the Harris poll is Notre Dame followed by No. 2 Michigan.
Two more teams from the Big Ten – No. 5 Penn State and No. 8 Wisconsin – also made the top 10, which included only three SEC schools – No. 6 Alabama, No. 7 Georgia and No. 10 Florida.
The results are certainly a bit surprising, and you can take a look at the entire poll here.
One qualifier – the survey of 2,045 adults across the country was conducted in August, so this season's results were not taken into account.
Still, it's an interesting study.
